Our Story
Theresa “Terry” Rogers started in the wine business in 1978, selling wines of the world to restaurants and stores in Manhattan and Westchester. She climbed the ranks through management in the Metropolitan area for the United Vintners Fine Wine division of Heublein and then was given a job with Inglenook wines as their agent in the Tri-State area, selling to distributors. Terry was next asked to join two marketing gentlemen from Perrier water who wanted to create a wine company. Together, they created Bollini Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Terry traveled the country seeding the wine through distributors and building the wine to a 30,000-case brand. She then started her own wine brokerage business, becoming the first representative on the East Coast for Neil Empson, the first person to bring fine Italian wines to the United States (including Angelo Gaja, one of the greatest producers in Piedmont).
In 1986, Terry purchased her first store, the Connecticut Liquor Store, in Greenwich, CT. She renovated the interior space to include the largest selection of fine California wines, a first in Greenwich. In 1989, Terry had the opportunity to purchase Horseneck Wines also in Greenwich. She built the business for 30 years, catering to collectors, handling parties, tastings, and guiding trips to California wineries for charities. During this time, Food and Wine Magazine wrote Terry’s story, as she was the only woman in the United States to have accomplished so much at each level of the industry.
In 2018, Terry created and built Harbor Point Wines & Spirits to educate the growing community. Four years later she has become an important part of the Harbor Point community—for all the residents and their pets. Every dog has come to know her treats well!
